Connecting students with philanthropy

Connecting students with philanthropy

The University of Wyoming Foundation and the UW Honors College have launched the Brown and Gold Ambassadors, a new student internship program that connects students with donors and introduces them to the role philanthropy plays in advancing the university.

“The Brown and Gold Ambassadors program creates meaningful opportunities for students to build professional skills while helping strengthen the relationships that support UW’s mission,” says Jill Higham, UW Foundation senior vice president for development. “These students bring unique talents and perspectives to donor engagement, and we’re excited to invest in their growth while giving them firsthand experience in the work of a university-serving foundation.”

The inaugural cohort of Brown and Gold Ambassadors will help host signature university events, engage with donors, and support outreach to key groups in the donor pipeline. Through the program, students also will gain experience in areas ranging from corporate governance and prospect development to marketing while also pursuing their own personal and professional growth.

Maya Molt

“I am going into my senior year, studying accounting. Throughout my college career, my experiences as a resident assistant and mentor with the Native Center have helped me develop a love for stories and community. As UW has become an important part of my own story, I am excited to begin this new chapter by building genuine authentic relationships through and with the UW Foundation. Outside of work and school, you can find me by the riverside fishing or reading a good book.”

Teagan Halsey

“I am homegrown from Anchorage, Alaska. I came to UW to follow my passion for animals and agriculture. This interest of mine evolved from my summer work on a friend’s cattle ranch in Montana. I am nearing completion of my freshman year, majoring in animal science with a minor in agricultural business. The highlight of my UW journey has been the incredibly welcoming community throughout campus and the city of Laramie. Scholarship funding has played a significant role in helping me pursue my studies at UW.”

Eli Coulter

“I am a Laramie native and have loved growing up around the university. I am majoring in social work with a minor in honors and photography. In my free time, I love to explore the mountains, sing in university choirs, watch football, and enjoy adventures of any kind. I have taken full advantage of everything the university has to offer. My favorite parts of campus life include outdoor opportunities, the study-abroad program, playing pool, and engaging with our performing arts.”

“I am a transfer student pursuing a degree in energy and resource management. I was inspired to choose UW for the strong sense of community that has made my experiences feel personal and welcoming. I also appreciate UW’s emphasis on faculty excellence that fosters a rich learning environment. As a student, I value the close community across campus and how these genuine connections keep current students and alumni connected.”

Delenn Layher

“I’m originally from Sheridan. Growing up, I loved the scenery and the community of this great state. It always felt like home. Hiking, paddleboarding, and camping in the mountains have been some of my favorite Wyoming pastimes since I was little. Now, I’m working toward a history major and minors in public law and honors. UW is student-oriented in a way no other school is. I love how everyone is focused on helping the students discover what’s best for them.”
