Investing in Wyoming’s Next Generation

DYEKMAN

Greg Dyekman

For nearly five decades, Greg Dyekman has shown what it means to stay connected to the University of Wyoming. A Cheyenne native, Dyekman earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting with honors from UW in 1977 and graduated in the top 10 percent of his College of Law class in 1980. He built a distinguished business and appellate law career in Cheyenne, most recently with Long Reimer Winegar LLP, and he has returned to campus as an adjunct law professor.

His service to UW runs just as deep. Dyekman has served on and chaired the UW Foundation Board, the College of Arts and Sciences Board of Visitors, and the College of Business Advisory Board, among others. In 2025, he received the UW Medallion Service Award, and he has been named a Distinguished Alumnus of the university, the College of Business, and the College of Law, among many other well-deserved honors.

His giving reflects the experiences that shaped him. His first major gift to UW was a debate endowment, honoring the program he has called the best educational experience of his life. In 2025, he built on that commitment with the Gregory C. Dyekman Fund for Debate. He also established a professorship in the College of Law, and he has supported programs across campus.

Dyekman’s newest gift permanently endows the Leadership Academy in the College of Business, a competitive three-credit program offered with Leadership Wyoming. Each year, a cohort of high-achieving students travels the state, meeting business and civic leaders in energy, agriculture, tourism, education, and healthcare, then presents solutions to the challenges that were studied. For Dyekman, a 2003 Leadership Wyoming graduate and recipient of the Daniels Fund/Wyoming Heritage Foundation Ethical Leadership Award, the connection is personal. The impact of this gift also will be multiplied by state matching.

“Over the years, I’ve realized just how valuable and formative my years at UW were for me personally and professionally,” Dyekman says. “It feels wonderful to help make extraordinary opportunities available to students whose lives will be changed by their experiences. My giving has given me great joy and always will.”
