In his role, Khalil aligns industry partners with the University of Wyoming to secure investments in research collaborations and philanthropic gifts. He serves as a central point of contact for faculty and academic units to pursue industry sponsored research and collaborates with all campus partners in support of the university and its priorities. 

Khalil joined the Office of Industry and Strategic Partnerships—a joint venture between the Research and Economic Development Division and the University of Wyoming Foundation—as Associate Director of Industry Engagement in May of 2026. Khalil holds both bachelor's and master's degrees in music performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, Canada, and the University of Texas at Austin, respectively. 

New to Laramie and Wyoming, he looks forward to learning about the community from its long-time members. In his spare time, Khalil enjoys road cycling, video games, playing the bassoon, and traveling.
