A partnership of the UW Foundation and the Honors College, the Brown and Gold Ambassadors are a fantastic group of UW student interns focused on supporting the university through donor engagement. Each student offers unique talents and perspective to this outreach program. They help host signature university events and donor interactions, enhance philanthropic support for UW by focusing on key segments of the donor pipeline, and learn about all aspects of a university-serving foundation—from corporate governance to prospect development to marketing. The program also focuses on the interns’ goals for personal and professional growth.
My name is Maya Alicia Molt, and I am going into my senior year here at the University of Wyoming, studying accounting. Throughout my college career, my experiences as a resident assistant and mentor with the Native Center have helped me develop a love for stories and community. As UW has become an important part of my own story, I am excited to begin this new chapter by building genuine authentic relationships through and with the UW Foundation. Outside of work and school you can find me by the riverside fishing or reading a good book. I look forward to a great year of connecting with others and continuing my story as a Wyoming Gold Ambassador.
I am home grown from Anchorage, Alaska. I came to the University of Wyoming to follow my passion for animals and agriculture. This interest of mine evolved from my summer work on a friend's cattle ranch in Montana. I am nearing completion of my freshmen year, majoring in Animal Science with a minor in Agriculture Business. The highlight of my UW journey has been the incredibly welcoming community throughout campus and the city of Laramie. Scholarship funding has played a significant role in helping me pursue my studies at the University of Wyoming. Serving as a Brown and Gold Ambassador means that I will be able to support the continued generosity of donors and help fund the amazing programs at our school.
My name is Delenn Layher and I’m originally from Sheridan, Wyoming. Growing up, I loved the scenery and the community of this great state. It always felt like home. Hiking, paddle boarding, and camping in the mountains have been some of my favorite Wyoming pastimes since I was little. Now, I’m working towards a Political Science major and minors in Public Law and Honors at the University of Wyoming. Attending the only university in the state was something everyone had encouraged me to do, and I assumed it was solely because I was from Wyoming. Instead, they recommended it because UW has some of the best resources and best community I’ve ever witnessed in a university. UW is student-oriented in a way no other school is. I love how everyone is focused on helping the students discover what’s best for them. There are so many opportunities through internships, classes, study abroad programs, and more that are available to students no matter their major or interests. I am truly grateful to be a part of the UW community and to have found a home away from home here in Laramie.
I am a Laramie native majoring in social work with a minor in honors at the University of Wyoming. In my free time, I love to ball, sing in university choirs, watch football, and enjoy adventures of any kind. Since choosing to attend UW, I have taken full advantage of everything the university has to offer. My favorite parts of campus life include outdoor opportunities, the study abroad program, playing pool, and watching musical performances.
My name is Sierra Mason, and I am a transfer student to the University of Wyoming pursuing a degree in Energy and Resource Management. I was inspired to choose UW for the strong sense of community that has made my experiences feel personal and welcoming. I also appreciate UW’s emphasis on faculty excellence which fosters a rich learning environment. As a student, I value the close community across campus and how these genuine connections keep current students and alumni connected.
